Sleep is a Wonderful Thing

A good sleep is so important for our bodies (& minds) to rest and repair.

If finding sleep is sometimes difficult (or perhaps anxiety causes you to wake in the night), try this:

Every night, lie on the ground or your bed with your legs up against the wall to relax your nervous system. This will help you to get into a “rest & restore” state for sleep. We spend so much of our days in the sympathetic “fight or flight” state, perhaps now more than ever! It is so important to balance it out….

Legs up the wall is a magical pose. It can relieve symptoms of lower back stress, PMS, varicose veins, anxiety, headaches, improve lymphatic flow, and much more. It is a fantastic way to find calm before bed.

Some other ways to calm your nervous system before bed are:

  • Breathing exercises (breathe in for a count of 4, hold for a count of 7, and breathe out for a count of 8)

  • A warm bath with Epsom salts and lavender oil

  • Humming or singing activates your vagus nerve

  • Herbal nutrients like chamomile, passionflower, lavender, etc.. Many of these can be taken as a tea.

A balanced nervous system is vital for sleep, mood, hormonal balance, immune function, and so much more.
