Mocktails!

Boozy cocktails. Excess alcohol places pressure on the liver, impacts blood sugar, and can leave you with a killer hangover the next day. Why not skip the pain and try healthy mocktails instead?

🍹 Mocktails are highly underrated beverages.

By using whole ingredients like fruits, natural sweeteners, herbs, bitters or fermented foods, you can blend or infuse a healthy mocktail that is so delicious no one will miss that alcohol. And, instead of detracting from our health, these beverages will add to it.

(We had so much fun trying out these recipes and making modifications as we went along. Of course one of my testers kept insisting each of these would taste better with vodka! Ha! Let’s just ignore him for now ☺️).

👉 POMEGRANATE GINGER STORM (my fave!)

  • 500 ml pomegranate juice (natural, 100% juice with no added sugar)

  • 750 ml ginger beer

  • Juice from 1 lime

  • To serve: fresh pomegranate seeds

METHOD:

1. Fill mixing jug half way with ice. Add juices and ginger beer. Using a cocktail stirrer, stir gently.

2. Pour into your glasses and garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds and drink immediately.

👉 WATERMELON MINT QUENCHER

METHOD: In a mini blender combine ¾ cup fresh seedless watermelon, ½ tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice, half of a medium peeled cucumber, 1 cup frozen pineapple pieces, ½ cup pure coconut water, 2 fresh mint leaves, and 4-5 ice cubes. Blend until smooth, pour into glass and garnish with fresh mint and a small wedge of watermelon.
